Hello, I am Alexander, an assistant professor in Natural Language Processing at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (a.k.a. Skoltech). My main research interest is computational lexical semantics, including semantic similarity, word sense induction and disambiguation. In the past I worked also on other NLP-related topics including text sentiment analysis, topic categorization, gender categorization, argument mining, skill extraction from text, and many more. More generally, I am interested in statistical and neural natural language processing, information retrieval, machine learning and intersections of any interactions of these fields.

Prior my appointment at Skoltech I was a postdoc at University of Hamburg working with Prof. Chris Biemann. Before Hamburg, I worked as a postdoc at TU Darmstadt. I have served as an associated researcher at Université catholique de Louvain and a researcher at a social network mining start-up. I have completed a PhD in Natural Language Processing at Center for Natural Language Processing of Université catholique de Louvain under supervision of Prof. Cédrick Fairon and Prof. Andrey Philippovich in co-tutelle with Moscow State Technical University. During my studies I was involved in the European research project iCOP and the Belgian research project ELIS-IT. My research was supported by Wallonie-Bruxelles International.
